Tiresome Thursday

So, today was the dreaded Thursday. I absolutely HATE Thursdays! It's my longest day of the week, but it's finally over! I am so glad to be home, relaxing, and getting ready for bed. Today started off with me waking up really early for some reason. I got up early and got ready and was ready to leave my apartment by 7:00 this morning. It was pretty mindblowing! So, I get to school to discover that all we were going to do this morning was paint, cut out pictures, and draw. Wow, you mean I got up at 6:30 and came to class for THIS? Oh well, at least it wasn't class work. Well, after that I had to go to work. It wasn't so bad today, it actually went by super fast. I also taught my mom how to gmail chat me today. It was pretty hilarious. So, after I got off work, I had to go back to class at 4:45. I got there unusually early too. Today has just been a very on time day for me. So, this class is the one I hate the most, and heaven help us it didn't let me down tonight. We were in there past the time we were supposed to be out. I mean this class is 2 hours and 45 minutes long. We are exhausted and ready to leave, but she just keeps talking. It's really annoying. But anyway, it's over now. So, I got to my car and Justin startled me in the parking deck. He walked to my car and knocked on the window. It scared the mess out of me! He then proceeds to tell me that we are going to the mall so he can take something back and reserve a game and then we will eat at the mall. I had Chick-fil-A and it was good as always. I also saw some old friends Tiffany, Crystal, and Josh. I just waved. I probably should have at least said hello but I was just exhausted and starving. So, if you read this, sorry I didn't say hello lol! Anyway, we ate dinner then we went to WalMart so Justin could buy a Playsation 3. He is now in the process of setting it up getting it "just right." It's really pretty. But now we have 3 game systems. We have the Wii, Xbox 360, and now a PS3. We are officially gamers I guess! Well, tomorrow I find out where my placement it. I hope it's somewhere good. Last semester I had 2nd grade at Southview Elementary. I really enjoyed it but I will be glad to try out another school. Well, that's it for now. I will be back tomorrow hopefully with a good placement!
Also, remember to pray for that sweet girl Amanda and her family. They really need prayer right now to help all of them get through this and I know that they will!!

All in just one cookie...

So today is Wednesday which is my 2nd favorite day of the week because it means it's nearly the weekend! Yesterday was a good day. I stayed at home all day and did some serious cleaning. I'm talking organized my kitchen cabinets. I vacuumed, dusted, even steam cleaned the carpets! I was on a cleaning spree yesterday. I did it because that was my last off day for a while. I am hoping it will stay this clean for a while, we'll see. I found out some horrible news about a sweet girl I know. I will be praying for her because I know this is a tough time for her and her family. Today I had class at 1:30. It was completely pointless. We came in, divided into groups, answered 3 questions a piece and then left. I mean, I'm not complaining, but that really could have been done at home. After that, Bridgett, Melanie, Valerie and I went to the library to find some articles for our class and an informational children's book for tomorrow. I picked a book called "All in Just One Cookie." It's the cutest book ever. It's about Grandma and she's making chocolate chip cookies, and the grandkids have to do research to find out where each ingredient comes from. So they found out that eggs came from chickens, and butter comes from cows, and different chocolate comes from different countries. It's so cute and the illustrations are so cute too. I will definitely have this book in my classroom. After we found our books, we went to the Ferg to eat. It was really good and really fun to sit around and laugh about stuff. After that, we went to our most dreaded class of the week. This teacher is so sweet and so kind. The class is just pointless. It's nothing but a recap of a class we took last semester and we haven't learned a thing. Tonight we talked about how it will be when we go in our practicum on Monday for the first day. I find out Friday where I am placed and I cannot wait!!! I hope I get a great school, but any school is a good learning experience! Well, tomorrow is my most dreaded day of the week. I have class from 8:00-10:45, then work from 11:00-3:30, then class from 4:45-7:30. It's a rough day, but I will make it through as always. Even though it's a long day, it goes by rather fast and makes me happy that the next day is Friday!!! I'm so ready for this weekend even though I have a lot of homework to do! I would rather just sit at home with Justin and Trixie and do my homework than worry about going to class. Well, that's my day. I probably will not write tomorrow because it will be so late when I get in but I will update Friday when I find out what my placement is!!

Good Day

So, today was a really good day! I didn't have class until 4:00 today so I had a lot of time to hang out with Justin. We went to lunch at Milo's today, then we went to Mid Town. We looked at Circuit City to see if they had any good deals, but nothing is too marked down yet. Maybe when they are getting closer to leaving there will be better deals. Then we came back here, sat around for a little bit then I had to go to class. Class was rather interesting today. My teacher told us about a student she had one time that was schizo and was in 5th grade. It was pretty scary. I hope I don't have a student like that, but if I do I hope I know how to handle it. So, today was a pretty ordinary day. Trixie and I started our 1 mile a day walking again. She really likes it. Today we went on our 1 mile walk and Justin went with us. It was fun having someone to talk to. She was super tired though. She has been sleeping all day since that walk. It's good for us though. Well, after that we went to dinner at Los Tarascos. It was good as always, and cheap as always. Now I'm at home, I need to be working on some homework but I can do it tomorrow since I have no class tomorrow! I really need to do something productive like clean and do homework and wash clothes, but....! Yea I guess I will. I need to do it while I can. Next week I start my field experience. I find out where I get placed on Friday so I'm excited about that. So from now on, my Mondays and Tuesdays will be 7:45-3:15 at an elementary school. I'm so excited!! I love it and can't wait to start my career. I will honestly be able to say I love my job! Well, that's enough for now. Be back tomorrow!

Thank goodness for weekends!

Well, yesterday was Friday which is my FAVORITE day of the week! I had class at 9:00am and got out around 12'ish. I learned how to make lesson plans, and mine was very good she started bragging on it! That always makes me feel good. After that, I went to WalMart because we were thinking about litter box training Trixie. I bought her a box, but it wasn't big enough so we decided to go to Pet Supplies Plus on Saturday. Well, while I was there I had to buy something that I can use in my new stand mixer Justin got me for Christmas so I bought a cake mix. Justin likes vanilla frosting but I like chocolate, so I had to buy both. My cake is half chocolate icing and half vanilla icing. It looks funny, but it's too good. Anyway, I got home, cleaned my kitchen up, picked up around the house while my cake was baking. Justin got off work at 4:45 and came home and he was happy I made the cake. We then decided to go eat dinner somewhere. I, of course, wanted Outback as usual. I could eat Outback for breakfast, it's just my favorite!! But, we didn't go. We went to Los Tarascos instead and it was super cheap! I had a chicken chimichanga with cheese dip, and Justin had chicken enchiladas. It was so good! After that, we went to the WalMart on Skyland to see if they had dog litter, but they didn't. We then came home, I was ridiculously tired that I fell asleep on the couch. Trixie woke me up whining at me which told me to come to bed. I was really hot and sweaty when I woke up for some reason, so I got up, opened my window, turned my fan on and Trixie and I went to bed!

Today, Saturday, I woke up earlier than I wanted to. I was really wanting to sleep in all day, but I figure that can wait until Monday. So, I woke up at 9, and I really didn't want to wake up so I layed back down but I couldn't sleep so I got up for good ad 9:30. It took me forever to try to get Justin up. I finally tickled him out of his bed and we had a piece of cake for breakfast. After that, he and Trixie layed on the couch and took a nap while I got a shower. I know, it's pitiful. Then after that I got ready to go and so did Justin. Once we were ready to go out the door, Justin, Trixie, and I went to Sonic. We ordered off the Value Menu and it was pretty good. I had a chicken tender sandwich, small tots, and a small Dr. Pepper. Justin had a Jr. Chili Cheese Frito wrap, a small fry, and a large Dr. Pepper. It was really good! After that, we went to Pet Supplies Plus for Trixie. There were a lot of dogs there today. A lot of grouchy barky dogs. Today was not a good day for Trixie to be there. She kept jumpin at my legs wanting me to pick her up and hold her like a baby, and of course I did. I spoil her so bad. Well, we can't leave there without buying something so I bought her some chewy sticks and a new collar. Her collar is purple with multi colored paw prints on it. It suits her just fine! After that, we came home. Justin played his Xbox for a while and I took a nap. We then got up and tried to figure out what we were going to do for dinner. I wanted to make French Bread Pizza, but he couldn't make up his mind. So, we left with intentions of going to Sam's just to eat pizza. It's like 3 dollars for pizza and a drink. We first went to WalMart to rent Max Payne from the redbox movie thing for $1. We had a promo code so we got it for free!! I then took the litter box back because we decided it's not very natural for a dog to be litter trained so we took it back. After that, we went to Sam's to eat pizza, but it looked rough so we decided against it. We ordered Hungry Howie's instead. I was glad we did, because it was so good! We watched Max Payne while we were eating it. That's a great movie! For a while it was hard to follow, but once you catch on it's great! I hated the ending though. It left too many loose ends. Now we are sitting here. I am sitting on the couch, Trixie is in my lap, and Justin is playing Xbox. He is such a gamer. He can't go a day without it. I guess he's the same about that as I am my laptop! So, there's another weekend wrapped up in Amberville! Tomorrow is Sunday. I really wish we had a church to go to, but we know that even though we don't make it to a service, we still can serve God in other ways! I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

Thirsty Thursday!

So, today is Thursday. It is my longest day of the week. The class I have tonight, God love her she is so sweet, but I get so aggravated with being there because I've been there since 7:45 that morning and we don't get out until 7:30. It's rough! But anyway, I made it through just like I always do. When I got home I made tacos, they were so good. They just hit the spot! Justin and I ate them in the living room, no tv or anything, we just talked about our days and things that were going on. That felt nice to do that. It's so good to sit and talk to him sometimes with no distractions. Today was just a busy day, but a thirsty day which is why I titled today Thirsty Thursday. I think I have drank 3 bottles of water, a Dr. Pepper and Mt. Dew. It's been crazy today. I've been home doing homework since I got out of class and now I'm getting ready for bed. I have class at 9:00 til 11:50 and I am looking forward to that being over with! It will finally be the weekend!!! Well, I have to go clean my kitchen, then I'm gone to bed! See ya tomorrow!

Just another Wednesday

Well, today started off with some good news. My 1:30 class got canceled! It feels like I'm never going to go back to class, but hey that's fine with me! I did have class at 4:30 tonight though which made up for all the class that has been missed. This class is Teaching Children to Read. It's good to know, but she's never taught a college class before and has always taught Kindergarten so needless to say she treats us like Kindergarteners. But, I guess I understand where she's coming from. We don't really learn anything in this class, but she's trying. Most of it I learned last semester anyway from my very good Reading Development professor. She was strict, but I sure am glad now!

So, since I didn't have class at 1:30 today, Justin and I went to Zaxby's for lunch. I had the Nibblerz Meal, it was good as always. We then came home, looked at this website that has tons of cheap electronic partson it, then I had to get ready to leave. I had to go to the library so I could find a children's biography picture book. I got a book on Helen Keller. It looks pretty kid-friendly. Then I met my friends Melanie and Valerie and went to class. Of course we stopped by the snack machine first. Valerie is so skinny yet eats more than anyone I know!! Anyway, we had class from 4:30 til 7:15, very long and boring. Then I got out of class, and it's always so cold outside and we are so tired that my friend Melanie and I are always laughing deleriously and saying stupid/funny things.

Well, after that I called Justin to see what was for dinner. We were going to have tacos, but it's Wednesday and my show (Criminal Minds) was on. I had to watch that of course and didn't want to cook so I picked up pizza from Hungry Howie's. We had the pepperoni pizza with cajun crust for $5! We then watched Criminal Minds, it made me want a security system so we talked all about those, then he played his Xbox 360 and I did homework. I had to finish reading "Shiloh" and I was glad the way it turned out. I'm glad that sweet boy got to keep that precious dog instead of that mean old man.

Tomorrow means Thursday which means I am not very happy. I HATE my Thursdays. They are horrible. I have class, the most boring class, at 8:00-10:45 in the morning. I then have to work from 11-3:30, then I have another HORRIBLE class which is teaching children math from 4:45 til 7:30. But, whenever 7:30 gets here I will be very happy to go home! I spend 12 hours on campus on Thursdays...blahh!! Well, I guess I better get to bed because Thursday is coming pretty quickly and I need my sleep!! 1 more day til Friday!!!!

Brrrr!!!!!

Well lucky for me, today was another day of no class! I'm enjoying that while I can for sure, because as soon as I begin going to the Elementary Schools, I will be there from 7:45-3:15 on Mondays and Tuesdays. I'm really looking forward to the kids, just not the earliness!!!

So today was a COLD and lazy day for me. Justin and I went to breakfast this morning, then I had to take the movie back from last night. I then came home, lounged around for a while and watched the Inaugeration of Barack Obama. Then the maintenance man came by to fix the master bathroom sink because it was stopped up, he also fixed our toilets from running so much after they were flushed. So now that's all good! There is really not a lot to say about today. It was pretty lazy and boring, but that's what I enjoyed! Since it was so cold today, and being the Alabama native I am, I cooked chili for dinner. It was too good, I haven't had it in a while. Justin makes fun of me for drinking milk with it, but it makes it not so spicy! He's just a meanie when it comes to picking on me!

I was working on some homework today, I am in a class that teaches me how to teach math, and another class that teaches me ethical teaching and how to make tests. So, I never realized how much I have taken elementary math for granted. Today I was working on a math problem that was so simple, but I was having to actually teach it and it was just so weird and so hard. It's like, how do you explain addition? It's just one of those things. Also, in my test class I was given a dilemma: "The SAT is coming up next week, you know you have not covered all materials and area that are supposed to be covered and know that you do not have enough time. What do you do?" Well, that's a really hard question. I guess I would inform my Principal maybe or maybe get some advice from teachers to see if they could help me.

Anyway, I'll post the recipe to my chili. Maybe whoever reads it will enjoy it as much as Justin and I do!!

This makes enough for 2-4 people. If you needed more you can double as you need.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 can Hunt's chili seasoned tomato sauce (only sold at WalMart and it's hard to find in that aisle)
1 can Bush's chili beans
1 pkg Chili-O seasoning mix

Brown meat in a pan and drain. Then put meat in the crock pot as well as the sauce, beans, and seasoning. Stir it up, cook on high for an hour or so or on low all day! Top it with cheddar cheese if you want!

There is a reason I hate Mondays!

Today is Monday, it's MLK day which means no shool/work today. This was great! I was supposed to relax, clean my house, and even steam clean my carpet today. Well we first got up and went to Wal Mart to rent a movie from the Red Box Movie Rentals there, they are only $1 for a night rental! Then we went to Los Tarascos and had some lunch. I had the chicken chimichanga with cheese dip, and Justin had the steak and chicken fajitas. We waited FOREVER on our check but it was good! Then we went home so I could do my cleaning list I had made for myelf. Well, I was washing my first load of clothes of several, and I noticed there was water EVERYWHERE in the laundry room floor! The trash can is in there so I immediately thought, "There must have been a water bottle thrown away without a lid." So I pick up the trash can, look around, and realize it isn't coming from there. I follow the trail.......and it's the washing machine! Great! So, I have Justin come and look at the washing machine, and sure enough it's leaking like a mad man. So we get frustrated, Justin tries to call his parents for help but can't get in touch with his dad and it was just a mess. After an hour or so I decided to maybe take the back hose off and see if maybe that's why it wasn't draining water, like maybe there was a blockage like a sock or something. Well he takes that off and water goes everywhere again! All of my clean towels were now soaking wet and smelly. So we decide to go to Home Depot to look at some, but they are all just outrageous. We found one we were going to get because it was 10% off since it was over $398 but we decided to go look at Sears. Well they had nothing, I guess everyone else's washing machines must have broke today too lol! So we go home, the washer isn't leaking anymore and Justin decides to tip it over so he can see where it's coming from. I don't think it makes a difference, but that's what men do I guess lol! So he tips it over, determines it's coming from the front right side and that's it. Well I decide to run it through the spin cycle a couple of times and try to suck the water out. I guess it worked because I just washed 2 more loads of towels and it isn't leaking. Maybe it just needed emptied out. Thank goodness for that, because we need it to hold out on us for another year until we get out of college! It's not like it's old, we've only had it for a year and a half. Oh well! Then we cooked dinner. We cooked the TGIFridays Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Alfredo Pasta! It was delicious as always. We also watched the movie "My Best Friend's Girl" with Dane Cook and Kate Hudson. It was hilarious, as expected, but it had a lot of "vulgarness" I will say. Well, it's about that time to get ready for bed. Lucky for me, I have no classes tomorrow so yay for that!! I'm also still praying for Baby Harper and that family. I really hope they are doing well and that baby gets well! Goodnight!

My First Post

Well, this is my first post as a blogger! A lot of my friends do it and have tried to talk me into starting, but I never felt the need until a person's story touched my life. She is a wonderful woman who is going through a horrible time right now and I came across her story and realized that I should keep up with my life and everything that goes on so I can remember everything and meet amazing people who need you and you need them. So I guess I will start this blog by telling a little about myself:

My name is Amber Wilson. I'm 22 years old and a Senior at the University of Alabama. I am majoring in Elementary Education and will graduate next May. I am very excited about that part of my life to begin. I love working with children and watching them learn and just cannot wait to do it every day! On February 6, I will have been dating my boyfriend for 5 years. He is also a student at UA and he is majoring in Operations Management. We have a Miniature Pinscher named Trixie. She is 3 years old and spoiled rotten. She has epilepsy and has seizures sometimes, but they are rare and she is still my baby and the best dog! I love her very much. Right now I am just enjoying Tuscaloosa and enjoying college and living each day feeling blessed to be here. That's all I really have to say for now!
